Learners are required to complete an assignment for each unit, with a minimum length of 1500 words. Assignments hold significant importance in the learners’ work at the Centre, and there are strict guidelines in place, including:
- Plagiarism: Learners must avoid using another person’s words from a book, journal article, conversation, or lecture without proper acknowledgment.
- Referencing: Proper referencing and citation of another person’s work in written assignments to avoid plagiarism.
- Word Length: Adherence to specified word lengths for essays and reports.
- Presentation and Style: Following guidelines for the presentation and style of a report, including the use of appropriate language.
Additionally, learners are required to sign a declaration of authenticity, confirming that the work is their own, and any assistance or sources used have been duly acknowledged.
All learning outcomes are assessed using assignments that are appropriate for evaluating knowledge, understanding, and skills. These qualifications are vocational in nature and support learners in their career progression. Assignment tasks are designed to address the Learning Outcomes (LO) and Assessment Criteria (AC) of each unit. Assignments will often require learners to engage with relevant theory underpinning the subject area.
It is essential to provide valid, sufficient, and authentic evidence for all assessment criteria. Submitted assignments should be marked by an assessor, and to pass a unit, a learner must achieve a minimum of 50% marks in each assignment.
Assessors are responsible for planning, collecting, and assessing learner evidence in accordance with Postgraduate level descriptors and Pass/Fail criteria. These assessments should be made available for internal moderation by the center’s Internal Quality Assurer (IQA).
Additionally, EBMA External Quality Assurers (EQA) conduct external moderation to monitor the assessment and internal moderation processes within the center, ensuring that the assessment remains suitable for its intended purpose and that the assessment processes align with assessment standards requirements. This ensures the integrity and quality of the qualification.
